You know the old saying…because people won’t be able to tell the difference.
I’ve been stuck in a silly argument with Dan Hunt, that I mentioned a few times before and you can follow by clicking this tag.
Here it ends, for multiple reasons.
Primarily, it degenerated to Dan’s calling me a liberal Edwards plant and I summarily end conversations when they get to that point, because the person on the other end has resorted to name-calling, which is a classic liberal tactic. But I allowed Dan to call me out, as if I were abandoning the conversation because his accusations were supposedly right.
I should have let them go. Aside from revealing his RINO tendencies, they simply allowed me to get distracted and therefore increased the How Bill Flores Will Lose posts by a few.
So, we’ll put it to rest.
Dan is a good guy, passionate, and doesn’t like to debate the points of an argument but wants to shoot the messenger. I think that’s borne out of a sense of frustration that he has to accept the nominee as not the most favorable candidate the GOP could be putting forward. I share that frustration.
Dan is willing to settle for the GOP choice and I am not. That is where our difference lay. And because he cannot convince me that compromising my principles is better than letting the GOP and District 17 lay in the bed it made for itself, he resorted to calling me names and making accusations that anyone can see are wild-eyed and inconceivable.
As I told Dan in my last message to him before blocking him on facebook, I don’t care what he thinks of me. I know who and what I am, and regular Write-Ins do, too.
I’ve linked to the final hard copy of the facebook public conversation here. Anything else that happens on that post I will not know or pay attention to, as I no longer have it set to notify me when Dan posts. I will not see any of his messages, as I have blocked him. Why?
Because if you just want to attack me without facts, then you really are insignificant to the discussion. Plus, it’s against the policy of this blog, which is where I will limit my public discussion on this topic from here on.
You’ll notice that I turned Dan’s silly argument back on him, if you care to read it (or if you even care about this dust-up at all…which only Matt Mackowiak cares about [Flores-related IP addresses hit the server log quite frequently]), but I only do that to, as Rush Limbaugh does, illustrate absurdity with absurdity.
I don’t think Dan is on Chet Edwards’ payroll. He doesn’t really think I am either, but he’ll tell you he does. He doesn’t believe Rob Curnock when Rob tells him I’m one of the good guys, which is strange because he was a pretty ardent supporter of Rob but now Rob’s assurance don’t matter to him?
You’ll also notice Dan does not address any of the answers I gave him in the Inbox message…answers to questions he asked. Another sign he’s got a bit of the liberal tint in him…making him a RINO.
Right now, Dan is a bit confused because his accusations don’t jibe with the facts. That’s why it all sounds like a lot of jibber jabber coming from him. More like blathering, really. Since I run the risk of sounding like I’m blathering, too (if I haven’t already succeeded in doing that) I will consider Monty Python’s Holy Grail and, “Get on with it!”
Maybe he’ll figure it out. If he does, great. If he doesn’t, so what.
Anyhoo, we’ll close this chapter (sideshow, really) by regaining our feet and moving forward. We should give credit where credit is due, and tip our hat to the Flores campaign. By my count, this makes seven people coached and advised with Flores attack points to come my way, without any of them addressing the baggage Flores carries. Seven up. Seven down. Probably more.
Incidentally, make sure you click on the message exchange I had with Dan through the facebook Inbox. You’ll see the initials of names of people you may want to ask concerning their feelings about Bill Flores. We know what they think…will they have the courage to say it (Like Randy Shelton) and stand by it (like Dan Hunt)? Who knows, but the list gives Matt Mackowiak and his client one more thing to worry about. I’ve redacted the names because I gave my word they weren’t on the record. The hardest thing Matt will be doing for the next three months is running around like the little boy with his fingers in the dike…wondering who is telling him what and then what they are telling people after he leaves.
When you work with two-faced people, it works both ways, Matt.
Pay close attention to the time stamps in each document. They overlap a bit, and Dan’s comment on this post reveals he did not keep track of timelines when they were inconvenient to his accusations. This is also the comment where Dan (Remember, former leader of the Johnson County GOP!) confirms that Bill Flores is a RINO.
Actually, I think the saying goes more like this…
Oh…one last thing for Matt: I spoke with a senior member of the Brazos County GOP Leadership Committee last Thursday afternoon (I refer to him in the exchange that Dan and I have via facebook Inbox), two hours before Bill was going to meet with him. You should know he’s not too hip on Flores, too. I don’t want to have to name names and release audio…so you may want to consider backing off since we are starting our focus on Chet.
I am awaiting arrangements with Paul Rieger to visit with him and then return a call I received from Randy Shelton…so instead of sending playground bullies and name-callers my way, maybe you should let these guys do your diplomacy. You’re only causing more facts about your client to get revealed, and the circle of influence those facts have throughout the District to increase.
Just let it ride.
