Here’s how I handle Social Media (and when I refer to Tweets or Twitter, it applies to all Social Networking):
- I Tweet several hundred times a day. Nearly 700 on Fridays alone. Mostly news and items I am reading and following, or retweeting top notch Conservatives whom I follow or come across.
- I automatically followback people who follow me, for a specific reason: It increases my sponsor base. I have sponsors who are interested in my reach. I send out sponsor tweets on occasion, but 99% of my tweets are non-commercial. All of those tweets are tagged with the hashtag #ad, so you can filter those out if you want. Though I automatically followback, it doesn’t mean I’m paying attention. I talk to that in item number 3…
- The list of people I ACTIVELY follow is relatively small compared to my list of followers and people I follow. That’s because I actually pay attention to what people I follow are saying. I have a list, called “Actively Following,” that is comprised of people who give something in content that improves my life experience and stream on my TweetDeck. If you want to get on THAT list, the easiest way is to comment below and leave your Twitter handle (@yourname) and introduce yourself as I mention below. When I comment back that I am following you, that’s when you know you’re on the list I Actively Follow, though you can check that at anytime on Twitter.
- I select those I actively follow very carefully. About once a week, usually Fridays, I follow people who have intrigued me throughout the week. This is usually 3 – 7 people who have attracted my attention.
- I am a #TCOT – Top Conservative On Twitter. I was recruited by @KevinLorigo and vouched for by @ConservativeIND. I am consistently ranked as one of the top #TCOT Tweeters on Twitter as well as ranked in the top 3% of Tweeters according to Twinfluence. I used to be a Sustaining Member of the Republican Party. Now I am an Constitutional Independent Conservative, in that order.
- I do not argue with Liberals on Twitter. They tend to bait me, typically by calling me gay or commenting about my weight or making sick comments about my son in the picture on my Twitter profile. I simply do not respond, and may just start collecting their Tweets as favorites so I could link them here, because…
- …some people think I am a Liberal because I don’t support Republicans blindly. If I kept the Tweets Liberals threw at me, perhaps these pseudo-conservatives would see me taking a few for the team they aren’t willing to play on but, instead, to choose to eat their own – if you’ll pardon the metaphor mixing.
- ReTweeting my posts or mentioning my name is a way to get my attention. I monitor that. However, it may take several hours to even a day for me to respond if you have a direct question for me – sometimes I miss it because I am so busy Tweeting out for my followers what I am finding and learning. Please be patient but, if you haven’t gotten a response from me in 24 hours, try again, or post a comment below.
- I constantly monitor the hashtags #TCOT, #TX17, & #bcstx from national to local trends respectively. Other ones come and go. I post to #TCOT, #TLOT, and #P2 regularly, because I want people to discuss what I post. It’s not intended to cause arguments…I am simply relaying information I think both sides need to know.
Those are my basics. I am going to leave the comments section below open. That will give you an opportunity to introduce yourself and tell me your Twitter (or other Social Media) handle, and I will look at your tweets more readily and consciously if you do.
By this point, you should know who I am following and why.
The bottom line is, if you have good things to say or share and are courteous, I’ll wind up following you and probably retweeting some of your stuff. I follow three liberals who have proven themselves capable of having decent, respectful, human discussions…so if you are a Liberal, there’s opportunity for you there. But you only get one chance!
If I do follow you, the best way to reach me is by DM. Or come back here and leave another comment on this page.
See…I never could have fit all that in 140 characters! I wanted you to know me and how purposeful I am in my use of Twitter and other sites, so you wouldn’t think I was ignoring you by not following back immediately or replying to your mention.
While you are here, check out the blog. You’ll see my Conservative credentials quickly enough that you won’t question them on Twitter or elsewhere. If you do, it’s probably best to block me, because I’ve had to deal with enough wayward “conservatives” (people who actually think I spend all this time acting like this so I can be a Troll…as if I have no life!) that I don’t even answer the “Are you a Conservative” question anymore. My digital record is all across the Internet for you to see and make that determination yourself.
Yes, I am Conservative and a Conservative. If you need to convince yourself otherwise, feel free to do so but don’t ask me!

I am a USCG vet and I served during the Vietnam era. Since then, I have had a multitude of jobs, mostly technical in nature. I am retired/disabled now and spend a lot of time on the computer. I have two adult sons (who were home-schooled through high school); one is a police officer in a local community; the second is a Capt. and a Mustang in the USMC. I am an independent conservative doing everything I can to stop and reverse the insidious attack by government upon our rights. I am pro-gun and an outdoor sportsman whenever I have the opportunity. I tweet mostly original tweets about conservative topics.

I’m Diana, a Christian/Conservative/Libertarian/Pro Life/Pro Military/Pro Constitution.
I am a mother of 3 boys, grandmother to 1 1/2 girls–second granddaughter is due in July.
My husband and I are small business owners in America’s Oilfield Sector, so I’m a huge advocate of drilling here.
I woke up in 2008 and finally started paying attention to what was going on in our Nation and was appalled. I blame much of it on myself as I never cared before and took it for granted that those elected were as concerned for our nation as I was and looking out for it’s best interests without my help. What a dunce I was!
My worst fear when Obama was elected was a re visitation of the Carter years. I’m thinking now that would have been immeasurably better than what we have going on.
Now that I’m awake and learning the truth, I want to do everything I can to get that truth out to others who are in the same boat I was in. It’s a sinking ship and they’re going down fast!
I am unashamedly a Glenn Beck fan and thank him for his role in helping me to awaken. I watch his show and also “do my own research”.
I try to only post links to sites that I am sure are valid stories and will help in awakening others, educating others, or once in a while, just some humor to break up this sickening roller coaster ride we have all been forced to take.
I refuse to argue with people who want to call names, swear at me, or try to belittle me. Ignoring and moving on is the easiest thing in the world to do. Arguing and name calling is childish and will not net you any gains for your cause.
If a civil discourse can occur, I’m all for it. It hasn’t happened yet, but who knows? I know God can change hearts, so I am prayerful it will happen one day.
I post under @socialism_sucks. I also go by mental indigestion-something I’ve had since I awakened.

I am completely new to both the twitter world and the political interest world. Sarah Palin changed that when I first heard about her in 2007…prior to her public introduction during the 2008 campaign, obviously.
I am a married mother of five children (two of whom have flown the nest). I am worried about the terrible direction out country has taken, and the path it is currently on.
I tweet just about daily when a thought os into my head (lightbulb moment or thought) and when I have heard or learned about something or someone that causes me to want to spread the word.
I definitely consider myself a commonsense conservative and registered Republican. However, I do not tow the party line if a more qualified candidate is presented to me as an option. For a while there, I always told people I was a Reublicrate. Not so far to the right, but not to the left. I have not yet joined the Tea Party, but I am looking forward to seeing what they are about after I moved back to Northern California from Tennessee this summer.

You’ve got quite an operation here! I’m glad to be a small part of it!
I’m a stay at home mom with two young boys. Currently, I’ve been working hard, truth seeking and keeping tabs on our politicians.
My biggest contribution (hopefully) to saving our Republic is the start of a new career as a children’s book author. I’ve been writing for years but never got a break until now.
My first book, “Freedom Bee” is due out in April/May. It is a lively story of the struggle between the worker bees and their controlling Queen. It’s a metaphor about how high taxes and dominating control can destroy a hive, ahem, I meant… society.
Hopefully this will be a start to a long career writing MEANINGFUL stories for our kids. It’s never too early to start!

Within the last week, I started following Theodore Rhodes and recieved a tweet from him today strongly suggesting to follow you. I clicked on the link and I have found someone who thinks as I do.
I am a coservative common sense thinking American who loves my country and will not sit idly by while it is being dismantled. When reading the 10 Conservative principles, there was not one that I didn’t agree whole heartedly with.
I am a small fish in a big pond, and choose my followers by reading each profile before I decide if they are someone who will contribute to the greater good. I too, refuse to argue with Liberals, they will never understand and I do not have to win, I believe in factual information and hope that perhaps some of it will take root if even in the smallest way, and if it does than it makes it all the more worthwhile. One never knows the impact we can have on others, and I refuse to burn bridges because I believe with all that is in me that in the future we are all going to need one another regardless of party.
I also homeschooled three children, when it wasn’t as common as it is today, solely for the reason that I didn’t want to participate in the sheeple society of popular culture and it’s deterioration. It was the best thing I ever did.
Lastly, your article “Why America Happened Here”,was beautifully poignant and every word rang true.

My Twitter handle is @JRobertConley. Currently, I’m in real estate in Gwinnett County, Georgia, amongst three other commission-only jobs. I’ve been writing lyrics over 30 years and am working on getting some of them recorded. One set of lyrics I wrote is called “Tread Not.” It was inspired by the Gadsden Flag. For now, I’ve got a Zazzle store with items related to the lyrics (until Barbara Boxer reads them)and Corvette stuff.
I’m concerned about my country and what my children and grandchildren will inherit. Most of the money I’ve made is gone and we lost our home to Wells Fargo about a year ago. Hey, just found you tonight! I am a conservative from the great Northwest (Spokane WA) I have been getting more involved in twitter and liked that you too only “choose” followers instead of some “auto follow bot”
I am a constitutionalists and believer in Freedom, education and unrestricted access to information are the best answer to the ills of the world. Freedom is the missing link for most of the worlds people. If we fail to retain our own we will fail the rest. So the fight must start here. We must retain-regain the freedoms set out in the founding on our nation. The opposition would point out our faults over our short history, but I answer that those are but the growing pains of a free republic. Capitalism is just a word to describe free people doing business together, not some convoluted government system.

Hi Kristofer, my twitter username is vargasgirlred, and I found you by a #FF recommendation! I do mostly retweets, but with the common thread of toxins and chemicals in our environment that are making us sick, and the apparent degradation of our civil liberties, one at a time. I am a cancer/chemo survivor, but no one in my family had ever had what I had…so I started looking into it, and found a pandora’s box of causes.GMO foods,pesticides, toxins in beauty care products, not to mention the suppression of alternative therapies.On top of that, the economy is just not rebounding as planned, and the morals of some of our elected leave a lot to be desired. I throw in some odd tweets that I find worthy of further exploration. I am so relieved to see so many using twitter and social media to steer this country back to where it needs to be…it will take many more of us, each with their own strengths. Greetings fellow conservative, Well I believe in God, Family and Country. I see conservative values as the best hope for a continued America. I admit I was lazy but since last year I realized that what America means to me became my duty to answer the call to protect and defend her. I’m too old for the military but I could fight the good fight by being an informed citizen and bringing others along. We share some common friends ConservativeIND was one of my first followers since then I have been proud to meet other fine Americans all across the Nation who believe as we do and collectively we can change America. Just as my father answered the call in WWII so have I and America means much more than our Government it is the Individual the many individuals willing to make a stand for what is right. I am a conservative and a member of our local tea party…. and a cave conservationalist. Not as contradictory as it might seem. I have an abhorrence to the use of hashtags and do not believe there can be anything positive to be gained by attempting ANY polite dialogue with liberals. You aren’t going to change a closed mind, and they certainly aren’t going to change mine, and the dialogue you get does not stay civil for long. You will not find a liberal in my follower list. Or spammers. Ever. I prize quality over quantity in my followers. Looking forward to the quality I hope this new association will bring. Cheers.
@myotis5705: I hear you. HOpefully you’ll meet some Liberals on A|W. We engage in good conversation, and I know I’ve turned some hardened hearts. We can’t make a difference if we just hang out with our own, so you’ll see on A|W that we engage actively. You’ll also see that we don’t put up with pretenders to the Conservative cause here, either. When ideology comes first, Conservatives and Liberals can have meaningful and productive dialog. When Party comes first, conservatives and liberals are only about the power and din’t see their own duplicity. I just had a great conversation with some Liberals that I posted about HERE. Hi Kristofer! (same name as my oldest son, just spelled different).
I am doing what I can to spread the word (and retweet “the word”) that conservatism is the direction our country needs to go. I follow several conservative pundits and visit several conservative websites, always looking to expand my knowledge and to share what I read with others. I believe Social Networking is one of the best ways to communicate with large groups of people and I’m trying to use it for that advantage.
I despise liberals and their ideology! I believe our country is in the last throes of being taken over by socialists and I am trying to shed light on the activities of the seditionists so that more right-minded (and that’s not just politically leaning right people!) people will act responsibly and help us get our country back. I’m focused on the Governor’s race in Oregon since that it where I live. But, I’m also vocal about other issues throughout the country since we’re all citizens together in the fight for freedom. I am a single voice reading, learning, and fighting with others to bring our countries government back to “We The People.” I like so many didn’t pay attention for a long time, I have am now awake. I pass along things I learn through all sorts of media and research, thoughts I have and even the occasional humorous comment aimed at the left. I come from a family of union loving Dem’s and am the outcast politically. I believe in small government w/low taxes and restoring our freedoms.

Very useful website and good tool to Conservatives. I will try reading it completely and see if I am useful for our Conservative Fight.
Be assured I am one conservative that wishes the best for my Country, and select the best candidates that will take this Country to what our forefathers wished; the shinning Bastion of Liberty.
I am a small business owner and a conservative. I use Twitter for social and business reasons. I do tweet my products, but I also follow mostly conservative, likeminded people or people who have an interest in pets, dogs or cats, as that is my store’s product theme. I very much enjoy all the information that comes through Twitter and I frequently click through to the articles and such that are posted. I find I am able to keep apprised of what is happening much faster this way. So, that is me: struggling small business owner hoping for a major change in November!
