Do U Folo?

Welcome!

Chances are you landed here from a link in an Automatic Message you received from us after following me (@KristoferCowles), American Writes (@AmericanWrites) or one of our columnists on Twitter or another social network. Or perhaps you got here from the link on the American Writes blog. Either way…you’re here. Welcome!

Remember, if we follow you, we’ll add your Tweets to The American Writes Daily, our online newspaper chronicling the news that matters to you and other people American|Writes follows.

Here’s how I handle Social Media (and when I refer to Tweets or Twitter, it applies to all Social Networking):

  1. I Tweet several hundred times a day. Nearly 700 on Fridays alone. Mostly news and items I am reading and following, or retweeting top notch Conservatives whom I follow or come across.
  2. I automatically followback people who follow me, for a specific reason: It increases my sponsor base. I have sponsors who are interested in my reach. I send out sponsor tweets on occasion, but 99% of my tweets are non-commercial. All of those tweets are tagged with the hashtag #ad, so you can filter those out if you want. Though I automatically followback, it doesn’t mean I’m paying attention. I talk to that in item number 3…
  3. The list of people I ACTIVELY follow is relatively small compared to my list of followers and people I follow. That’s because I actually pay attention to what people I follow are saying. I have a list, called “Actively Following,” that is comprised of people who give something in content that improves my life experience and stream on my TweetDeck. If you want to get on THAT list, the easiest way is to comment below and leave your Twitter handle (@yourname) and introduce yourself as I mention below. When I comment back that I am following you, that’s when you know you’re on the list I Actively Follow, though you can check that at anytime on Twitter.
  4. I select those I actively follow very carefully. About once a week, usually Fridays, I follow people who have intrigued me throughout the week. This is usually 3 – 7 people who have attracted my attention.
  5. I am a #TCOT – Top Conservative On Twitter. I was recruited by @KevinLorigo and vouched for by @ConservativeIND. I am consistently ranked as one of the top #TCOT Tweeters on Twitter as well as ranked in the top 3% of Tweeters according to Twinfluence. I used to be a Sustaining Member of the Republican Party. Now I am an Constitutional Independent Conservative, in that order.
  6. I do not argue with Liberals on Twitter. They tend to bait me, typically by calling me gay or commenting about my weight or making sick comments about my son in the picture on my Twitter profile. I simply do not respond, and may just start collecting their Tweets as favorites so I could link them here, because…
  7. …some people think I am a Liberal because I don’t support Republicans blindly. If I kept the Tweets Liberals threw at me, perhaps these pseudo-conservatives would see me taking a few for the team they aren’t willing to play on but, instead, to choose to eat their own – if you’ll pardon the metaphor mixing.
  8. ReTweeting my posts or mentioning my name is a way to get my attention. I monitor that. However, it may take several hours to even a day for me to respond if you have a direct question for me – sometimes I miss it because I am so busy Tweeting out for my followers what I am finding and learning. Please be patient but, if you haven’t gotten a response from me in 24 hours, try again, or post a comment below.
  9. I constantly monitor the hashtags #TCOT, #TX17, & #bcstx from national to local trends  respectively. Other ones come and go. I post to #TCOT, #TLOT, and #P2 regularly, because I want people to discuss what I post. It’s not intended to cause arguments…I am simply relaying information I think both sides need to know.

Those are my basics. I am going to leave the comments section below open. That will give you an opportunity to introduce yourself and tell me your Twitter (or other Social Media) handle, and I will look at your tweets more readily and consciously if you do.

By this point, you should know who I am following and why.

The bottom line is, if you have good things to say or share and are courteous, I’ll wind up following you and probably retweeting some of your stuff. I follow three liberals who have proven themselves capable of having decent, respectful, human discussions…so if you are a Liberal, there’s opportunity for you there. But you only get one chance!

If I do follow you, the best way to reach me is by DM. Or come back here and leave another comment on this page.

See…I never could have fit all that in 140 characters! I wanted you to know me and how purposeful I am in my use of Twitter and other sites, so you wouldn’t think I was ignoring you by not following back immediately or replying to your mention.

While you are here, check out the blog. You’ll see my Conservative credentials quickly enough that you won’t question them on Twitter or elsewhere. If you do, it’s probably best to block me, because I’ve had to deal with enough wayward “conservatives” (people who actually think I spend all this time acting like this so I can be a Troll…as if I have no life!) that I don’t even answer the “Are you a Conservative” question anymore. My digital record is all across the Internet for you to see and make that determination yourself.

Yes, I am Conservative and a Conservative. If you need to convince yourself otherwise, feel free to do so but don’t ask me! ;)

If you’re in this to win it for our Country and our Kids, you can bet we’ll be close friend real soon!

Cheers!

  9. Yvonne Burton says:

I am a conservative 1st and a republican 2nd. I have become very disillusioned with both parties but more so with my party. I have become active in my local party and have run for a position on the Shelby County Republican Steering committee which I only lost by 10 votes running against a very well known and powerful person. This first run at politics has only inspired me to run again. If we are going to save this country, more Americans are going to have to run and win positions that are reserved for career politicans. Looking forward to what you have to tweet.

  10. Generic Republican says:

    @genericrepub

My slogan is Save Money, Vote Generic! We can’t afford anymore name brand Libs or RINOs. Many of tweets reflect my dry sense of humor.

Just stopping by to thank you for giving a voice for truth in your site. Our voices speak louder than one thinks they do. We as individual must not be afraid to challenge our elected officials when they make careless and irresponsible statements, use class warfare, and out and out thuggery to get what they want. We have a right and a duty to speak out. Do not let your personal fear prevent you from speaking out. YOU can make a difference. WE NEED YOUR VOICE! We are at a critical time in America and our Country is in danger. She’s calling to you to respond, tell your neighbors, your friends, members of your Church or work place. BE the one who they come to when they have questions. You don’t have to be anyone or anything but YOU, Your Voice, Your love for Freedom, and Love for your country. America is calling. Individuals such as Kristofer are doing their part but they can’t do it alone. The elections of 2012 is just around the corner we can’t afford to sit anyone out we need YOU! Thank you @Eyes4Clouds

    • Amen, Karl! We must speak out against the lies, and social media is our key to getting that word out. Keep fighting the good fight, my friend! I’m glad to know you and actively follow you!

  20. Pat Johnson says:

I’m a descendant of President John Adams; actually, they are a branch of my family which was here first. John and Samuel are 2 names they “borrowed” through marriage to my relatives here before 1776.

Since people not only forgot, but teach history incorrectly (inter alia, forgetting that the word “consent” instead of duress or coercion in the third amendment is the reason for the 2nd amendment, I’m trying to fix our Country again too.

    From @Jim_romaine

    Hi Kristofer,

I too, found out about your site through #ff. I’m a conservative republican leaning toward the teaparty. I believe in America and our constitution. I tweet occasionaly and only follow like minded individuals who believe in similar values. I do not engage liberals online, as I believe many are voraciously un changeable. I do have many liberal friends and enjoy engaging them peacefully on the issues. I primarily use social media to gather and pass on factual information, and am proud to be a part of a great movement to take our country back from those who would destroy it.

I look forward to reading your articles, and hope to pass on the news true Americans need to hear. It’s a pleasure to meet you and I hope to tweet with you soon!

    Thank-you for your time!!!

    Jim Romaine

    • Thanks, Jim! It’s always refreshing to see someone using their real name…we need to stand behind the words we say and write! I’m glad to know you, too, and am following you actively, as well.

  27. William Hatter says:

    Thanks Mr. Cowles,

Appreciated the content of your blog site, and have great respect for your MO.

I have never had any doubt that WE as a country would eventually wake up; take our country back from the enabler, entitlement “thugs” in Washington. Once WE/the American people realized that a major portion of their congressmen were interested only in what the constituency could do for them, there would be a major change coming soon. We are finally there. AMEN

    • Thanks William. We have a long row to hoe, and by the time we do that, there will be weeds amongst those we just sent. Keep vigilant…it’s the only sentry between tyranny and freedom! I’m glad to know you and follow you, too!

  28. Roberta says:

I am a self-employed business person. I don’t put myself in any particular political category but I do believe that preserving our liberty and freedom as well as saving our economy is important. I believe in God and even if I didn’t, what does it matter that someone else does? If the grass is greener somewhere else, go live there, don’t try to bring it here. I may not agree with you but I will always defend your right to voice your opinion. Less government, states rights and cutting current government spending….let’s get on with it. Just because the Constitution is old doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. I’m glad I found this site via Twitter. I’m irobertadfw on Twitter.

  29. good day enjoy your tweets and followed you keep up the good work
